Terms of Use

Effective 12 July 2026

By using this app you agree to these terms. They're written to be readable rather than impressive — if something seems unfair or unclear, email and say so.

The service

Siargaonon is a language-learning app for the Siargaonon (Surigaonon) language, offering vocabulary cards, quizzes, grammar, and pronunciation audio. Level 1 is free and requires no account. Further levels unlock through XP earned by learning, or by one-time purchase; Level 5 (Grammar & Mastery) is available by purchase only.

Accounts

Purchases

If something goes wrong. If you pay and the unlock doesn't appear, or the app doesn't work as described, email within 30 days and you'll get it fixed or refunded. That's a promise, not a formality.

Acceptable use

Please don't: bypass payment or unlock mechanisms; scrape, copy, or republish the vocabulary and lesson content in bulk; attempt to disrupt the service or its audio endpoint; or resell access.

The language content

The vocabulary, phrases, grammar notes, and pronunciation guides are compiled by a native Siargaonon speaker of Siargao Island and are his work. Copyright © 2026 Siargaonon Lessons — the copyright holder is named in the licence. You're welcome to use them freely for your own learning, teaching, and conversation — that's the whole point. Bulk copying for republication or commercial use is not permitted.

Language is living and varies between towns, families, and generations. The content reflects the developer's own native usage and is offered in good faith; other speakers may say things differently, and that doesn't make either wrong.

Words you send in

Anyone can suggest a word, a correction, or a story. A native speaker reviews every submission before it appears, and may edit it for spelling or clarity, or decline it. Nothing goes live automatically.

By sending something in you confirm it’s your own knowledge of the language — something you speak or were taught — and not copied from a dictionary, book, or website that belongs to someone else.

You also give permission for it to be published in this app and on this site, edited, translated, recorded, and included in future versions. That permission is ongoing and can’t practically be withdrawn once a word is part of the shared record. You keep your own rights to it — this is permission to use, not a transfer of ownership, and you remain free to use your own words however you like. Where you give a name, contributions are credited.

Contributions become part of the free, public dictionary. They are not sold separately, and no payment is made for them.

If this project ever ends

This app exists so that Siargaonon isn’t lost. If it is ever discontinued — abandoned, or no longer maintained — the core word list and grammar notes will be released publicly under an open licence, so the record of the language outlives the project that gathered it.

That promise covers the written record. Voice recordings, lessons, and the app itself are a separate matter and are not included.

Ads

The free app displays ads, which can be removed permanently with a one-time purchase. Advertisements come from Google's network and their content isn't endorsed by this app.

Availability

The app is offered as-is. It's an independent project, not a company with a support desk — while every effort is made to keep it working, uninterrupted availability isn't guaranteed, and features may change or be discontinued. Purchased content will not be taken away from anyone who bought it.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the developer isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Philippine consumer law or the law where you live.

Changes, law & contact

These terms may be updated; material changes will be announced in the app's Updates panel. Continuing to use the app means accepting the current terms. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines.
